Deadline.com has the exclusive news that Showtime has tapped David S. Goyer to take on 100 Bullets as a potential TV series. According to Deadline‘s sources, Goyer is attached to write and executive produce the project. Warner Bros. TV is producing.

100 Bullets was a Vertigo comic book series written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Eduardo Risso, which ran for exactly 100 issues, between 1999 and 2009. The plot of involves the mysterious Agent Graves , who in each issue approaches someone who has been the victim of a terrible wrong. Graves gives them the chance to set things right by providing them a handgun, the eponymous 100 bullets, and documentation of the person primarily and personally responsible for the recipient’s woes. He informs the candidate that the bullets are completely untraceable, and any law enforcement investigation that uncovers one of these bullets will immediately stop. Throughout the series, a mystery begins to unfold, telling of the secretive “Minute Men”, of whom Grave is the leader, and the shadowy organization know as “The Trust”, who they are sworn to protect.

David S. Goyer’s previous credits for comics to big and small screen adaptations is as long as my arm, and includes: The Crow: City of Angels, Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD, the Blade films and series, Ghostrider, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Man of Steel.
