Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson Reunite to Tell the Origin of Butcher with The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker
This morning, Dynamite Entertainment announced that The Boys creators, Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson, will be reuniting in July to tell the origin story of Butcher with The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker! I’m a huge fan of both Garth’s writing and Darick’s artwork, and it was a sad day for me when Darick stopping being the regular artist on The Boys (see here). I mean, Russel Braun’s artwork is nice and all, but it’s just not the same! I’m hugely excited to see them working together again. Maybe this is a sign that he may be coming back on the regular book? Fingers’ crossed…
The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker will be a six-issue miniseries, the first issue will be solicited in the May edition of Previews, and will ship in July. Check out some fantastic preview pages below, and continue scrolling to read the press release:

From the backstreets of London’s East End to the carnage of the Falklands War, from the heights of love to the depths of tragedy, the most violent man in comics reveals the terrible nature of the forces that drive him. And when he’s done, he’ll be ready… to finish things once and for all. Get The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker #1 this July only from Dynamite Entertainment!
“This is the story I’ve been waiting to tell since the very beginning of The Boys,” says writer Garth Ennis. “A good, long, disturbing look into the dark.”
“This mini series is essential to the “Boys” legacy,” says artist Darick Robertson. “The script is one of Garth Ennis’ finest, (personally my favorite since our work together on Marvel’s Punisher: Born). It answers a lot of questions about who Butcher is and why he is the way he is. It is heartbreaking, and yet has the kind of action and humor you’d expect from the two of us. If you’re a fan of the series, this is the story you’ve been waiting for!”
“Garth and Darick have created a story so compelling, that it took till now to be able to offer to fans,” states Dynamite Publisher Nick Barrucci. “The story is powerful and the art is incredible. We want to excite fans by showing off incredible and meticulously drawn interior pages by Darick. This is THE Boys series that if you have never read The Boys, this is a great introduction to that world.”
