From the press release:

After the incredible critical and commercial success of Dynamite’s Warlord of Mars and Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris series, comes Warlord of Mars: Fall of Barsoom! 100,000 years before the time of John Carter! Barsoom is a dying world: its once mighty oceans are receding and its atmosphere grows more tenuous by the day. The Orovars, who have dominated for a million years, are on the verge of extinction at the hands of the Green Hordes and the emerging Red Martians. Two Orovars - a Scientist and a General — race against time to save their people before Mars plunges into barbarism! Be sure to pick up Warlord of Mars: Fall of Barsoom before it sells out this July!

“I love Barsoom, it’s Burroughs first, best creation in my opinion and to delve into its past and tell a story of Mars before John Carter would be good on its own,” says writer Robert Napton. “But I get the icing on the cake of doing it with cover artist Joe Jusko, the foremost Burroughs artist of our day, and an amazing interior artist with Roberto Castro. What could be better?”

“I’m very proud to work with Dynamite on this new title in the Warlord of Mars universe with the remarkable writer Robert Napton,” says artist Roberto Castro. “Working on the prequel is like a dream, which features a story about the last days of a powerful civilization on the road to destruction.”

“Robert is such a fan of Warlord of Mars, and we are really excited to be working with him again,” says Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci. “And Roberto Castro is an artist who’s been around for many years and when we saw his sample pages, we were blow away. We’re very fortunate he came on board with us. His art will do Robert’s fantastic script justice, and, from the linework we’re sending with this PR, we know you’ll agree.”

“Robert and I have been talking for a bit about finding a spot for him in the ‘warlord’ world,” added Dynamite Editor Joe Rybandt. “Robert’s a big fan, and together, we came at this thing with what we think is a fresh, new approach. The world is so rich, and Burroughs hints at so much of what has come long before the time of John Carter. So, this is our chance to add to that mythos and tell those stories.”
