Marvel’s Black Panther to Become… the American Panther!

Comic Book Resources have the scoop that Marvel’s Black Panther character is going to get a costume overhaul as part of the Fear Itself event. It looks like the character is going to start sporting stars & stripes on his costume, and take of the name of  the American Panther.

Marvel would only say of the image that they supplied CBR with: “Fear Itself” will have a “huge impact” on “Black Panther: The Man Without Fear.”

I have to say, I’m not a big fan of the Americanization of existing characters. I remember a few years ago Marvel gave The Punisher a new stars & stripes outfit. It was cheesy then, and it’s cheesy now! Oh well, it’s probably just a temporary change, designed to bring curious readers on-board one of marvel’s lower selling titles.

Black Panther: The Man Without Fear is written by David Liss and illustrated by Francesco Francavilla. You can expect the change to occur in July.
