Geoff Johns Denies Claims That The Sandman TV Show is Stalled
Recently, we shared the news that The Hollywood Reporter had spoken to Eric Kripke, creator of Supernatural and the person who was attached to develop Neil Gaiman‘s The Sandman for TV. Kripke told THR that “Unfortunately, for a lot of varying reasons, Sandman is not in the works, at least for this season,” going on to say that the project “just didn’t quite happen this season through nobody’s fault, and hopefully we can do it again in the future.”
Well, yesterday morning, after the news had made the rounds, Geoff Johns reawakened his much neglected Twitter account, to Tweet the following:
“Correction to world: The Sandman is AWAKE! Psyched to be working with @neilhimself on developing one of the greatest series ever!”
Which he followed up by saying:
“Sandman in any form - comics to live action - doesn’t work without @neilhimself #sandman”
What should we make of this? I’m not totally sure. I mean, Johns is not actually involved with developing the project, however, he is Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, so you would expect him to be in the know about such things. Curiouser and curiouser…
Stay tuned for more developments on this story, as I imagine DC/Warner will probably put out some sort of statement to clear up the confusing. Well, maybe!
