Your Creator Owned Comic Shopping List for Wednesday 2nd February, 2011

Introducing a new feature to the site!

I’ve always been a big proponent of creator owned comic books, and one need only look through the archives of reviews and interviews on the site, to see which way my tastes swing. However, bolstered by Steve Niles’ recent blog post on the subject, I realized that there’s probably more that I could be doing to help the cause. To this end, something new that I will be doing on the site is highlighting which weekly comic books, trades, and graphic novel releases are actually creator owned. I don’t think everyone is always aware of which releases are creator owned, and which are corporate owned, so I thought this handy tool may help alleviate that problem.

Below, you will find an alphabetically sorted list of all the creator owned comic, trades, and original graphic novels that have been confirmed by Diamond to be shipping this week (data provided by comiXology). Now, I don’t expect you to go out and buy every comic on the list, it’s just more of a tool to use while you are perusing the shelve of your local comic store.

If you see anything listed below that should not be there, please let me know, because it’s sometimes hard to know if things from some smaller publishers are creator owned or not. At the same time, if you think something should be added to the list, let me know, and I’ll update it straight away!
