Video: The Superbowl Trailer Spots for Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger
Didn’t watch Superbowl XLV? Afraid you missed the Thor and Captain America trailer spots that aired during the show? Not to worry, because Yahoo Movies already have the trailers online, and through the magic of video embedding, so does Hypergeek. Check out the trailers below.
So, what do you think of the trailers. I am cautiously optimistic. I think I’m just overloaded on superhero movies in general, right now. However, Marvel usually do a pretty good job on their movies (excluding Spider-Man 3), so I’m sure they will tick all the right boxes with these ones. I wish we didn’t have to go through the whole origin story for every character though. I’m pretty sure that most viewers out there are familiar with the origin of Captain America and Thor, so why not just skip that part and start with a fresh adventure, rather than a bunch of re-hashed stuff from the comics?
Captain America: The First Avenger opens on July 22nd, is directed by Joe Johnston, and stars, Chris Evans, Haley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough.
“The First Avenger: Captain America” will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
Thor opens on May 6th, is directed by Kenneth Branagh, and stars, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, and Ray Stevenson.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the epic adventure “Thor” spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
The screenplay for “Thor” was written by Ashley Edward Miller & Zack Stentz and Don Payne from a story by J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige will produce the film. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel and Marvel Studio’s Co-President, Louis D’Esposito, will executive produce.
