Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa Hired To Rewrite Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark
It seems that the saga of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has taken yet another twist today, as Deadline.com is reporting that the show’s producers have now hired Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to rewrite the musical’s plot, which was originally penned by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger.
The weakness of the plot is one of the major flaws for which the show has come under fire, so hiring a new writer is probably a very wise move on the behalf of Taymor et al. However, with the opening having already been pushed back five times, could this latest development push it back again from its March 15th opening? Stay tuned as the saga continues…
In addition to his long list of comics work for Marvel, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also has a strong background writing theatrical productions. This unique combination of skills probably makes him the perfect choice for scripting something like this. Makes you wonder why they didn’t go after him to start with! However, making this change in a week when they already announced increased ticket sales does seem like a strange move!
