Markosia’s Official PR on Kate & William: A Very Public Love Story
No offense to Rich Johnston, but I think I might have to skip this one. I just have absolutely no interest in the Royals. I am tempted by the fact that Gary Erskine is doing the art though…

Official Press Release
A Royal Graphic Novel
British Graphic Novel publisher AAM/Markosia is proud to present a dramatic retelling of the lives of Prince William and Kate Middleton in their new graphic novel Kate & William: A Very Public Love Story.
Written by Rich Johnston, it tells the life story of the happy couple in two directions. The front half of the book, drawn by Mike Collins, tells Kate’s story in the manner of a 1970′s girls comic book, with some very modern touches. Each event is given added depth and resonance by the use of a fictional diary. The back half, drawn by Gary Erskine is more bombastic, following William from the rugby pitches of Eton to army officer training at Sandhurst before his army and RAF exploits, all the time narrated by newspaper headlines and mission briefings in a style more familiar to the army and sports comics for boys.
AAM/Markosia have found a way to tell this story in a very different way, a dramatic biography with two separate stories told from either end of the comic, coming together in the middle, a fictional look at the wedding day itself, with a kiss. How could it end any other way?
Publisher Harry Markos says, ‘these are almost the ideal books to bring new customers into comic stores who wouldn’t otherwise be interested. If the Charles and Diana wedding is anything to go by they are likely to be highly sought after collectable souvenirs and desirable for readers of all ages. The response we have had since we announced them has been unprecedented, with interest from all over the world. Images from the comics have featured in dozens of newspapers, magazines and specialist websites and the guys have been interviewed for TV, so we are hoping that the direct market will embrace them as enthusiastically.’
Rich Johnston is a well-known comics industry figure, previously with his Lying in the Gutters column for Comic Book Resources and now as the founder and editor-in-chief of Bleeding Cool. His previous work The Flying Friar and Watchmensch received rave reviews, as did his stint on the Doctor Who comic book.
Mike Collins has been illustrating comic books for over 25 years and has worked with nearly all the major publishers on titles as diverse as Miracleman to Captain Britan, Doctor Who to Superman.
Gary Erskine has been illustrating comic books for eighteen years, working with various companies including DC, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse, Virgin Comics and IDW, on titles such as G.I. Joe, Dan Dare, Thunderbolts, The Filth and Star Wars amongst others.
Both comics and the graphic novel are available to order from the February Previews page 214 with the following codes: Kate & William - A Very Public Love Story - FEB11 0696 Kate Middleton – A Very Private Princess - FEB11 0697 William Windsor – A Very Public Prince - FEB11 0698
