DJ Caruso Confirms That He Will Direct Preacher Movie
On his Twitter account, director DJ Caruso has confirmed the rumour that he will be directing Sony Pictures’ Preacher, based on the DC/Vertigo comics series of the same name, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
Here’s what he said:
“My deal just closed on Preacher. Going back to the dark side and pretty fucking pumped!”
Caruso’s latest movie is I am Number Four, and his most notable works are the Shia LaBeouf vehicles: Eagle Eye, and Disturbia. The script for Preacher will be written by John August.
I’m not too sure how I feel about this announcement. I haven’t actually seen anything that Caruso has directed, but anyone who is that keen on Shia LaBeouf must be severely lacking in good taste! Frankly, I’m not overjoyed at the idea of Preacher being made into a movie, in the first place! When it was going to be a TV series, I was a lot more keen, but there is just too much story to fit into the confines of a movie. I’m not even sure that a lot of Ennis’ genius will translate that well to the big screen. Oh well, another great comic property being raped by Hollywood to make a quick buck!
