Archie Comics Reveals New Free Comic Book Day Cover

1

From the press release:

Archie Comics is thrilled to reveal a new cover for this year’s Free Comic Book Day; originally solicited as a ‘Betty and Veronica’ comic, the FCBD issue will now feature the classic ‘Pep’ logo and title on the cover.

The ‘Pep’ logo treatment featured on the FCBD issue is the classic logo from the early 1940′s that Archie Andrews first debuted under (in issue #22, Dec. 1941), and helps Archie Comics usher in it’s return to classic logos and iconography.

In January Archie announced that their core books would once again feature classic logo treatments on the covers beginning with Archie #621.

As CEO Jon Goldwater explains “Here at Archie, we’re always looking at new ways to push the characters forward, but we’re also very aware of our history and what resonates with old and new readers. This new cover treatment puts the emphasis on the characters and brings back our unique and definitive cover design.”
