The Walking Dead Tops Most Pirated TV Show List
According to The Hollywood Reporter, several popular Torrent websites are claiming that AMC‘s The Walking Dead has become the most downloaded TV show.
I find this interesting, because TV companies and record labels would have us believe that downloading music, movies and TV shows means that people won’t go out and pay for the product. However, if TWD is anything to go by, the ratings don’t seem to be affected at all. If anything, it might even have boosted the ratings, through people who downloaded the earlier episodes, then when and subscribed to AMC, in order to see the remaining ones on TV.
With AMC being a subscription based cable channel, TWD has been exposed to less viewers that say if it was aired on a network like NBC. Therefore, with the torrents being so popular, the show now has a chance to be watched by far more people. All of which should hopefully translate into higher sales for the DVD of the series!
Speaking of which, Amazon now have the Season 1 DVD and Blu-ray available for pre-order. Go and spend, you zombie loving pirate, you!
