Brave New World Presents Mini Kiddie Con
Brave New World Comics, the pop culture superstore, cultural epicenter, and all around awesome place that the lucky citizens of Los Angeles’ Santa Clarita Valley have enjoyed for more than 20 years, the 2008 Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailing award winners….the biggest, bestest, and most fun joint around is proud to present an event of epically mini proportions!
It’s Mini Kiddie Con 2010!
Mini Kiddie Con is the brain child (get it?) of shop proprietress, Portlyn, and local children’s book creator extraordinaire, James Burks. “James and I were talking about how great the kid’s book market is, but how tough it can be to get new product to the short people you’re aiming at. We decided to bring his book directly to the masses…and invite along a few friends for the ride!”, says Portlyn. “This is a terrific opportunity to pick up not only a locally created children’s book and get your kids something new to read, but you’ll also get the chance to meet the creator, and have them personalize your purchase while you wait. Gift shopping doesn’t get easier or better than this!”.
The event, which will take place on Saturday, December 4th at Brave New World in Newhall, CA, will run from noon till 4pm. Along with James Burks, other Los Angeles children’s book creators Chris Sonnenburg, Crystal Chesney-Thompson, Beth Sleven, Ray Friesen, and Michelle Harshberger will be on hand to dazzle, amaze, and sketch for the kiddies. Attendees will receive a limited edition signing and sketch card, featuring the characters of each creator, and be encouraged to have each artist doodle up a little something special for each child. There will even be special goodie bags, courtesy of Brave New World, for all attendees!
Brave New World is located at 22722 Lyons Ave., at the corner of Lyons and Chestnut St., in Newhall. Portlyn can be reached at 661.259.4745, or [email protected]
