Jeff Lemire’s Essex County Makes CBC’s Canada Reads Top 10 Books of the Decade!
I reported a few weeks ago that Jeff Lemire’s Essex County trilogy had made the top 40 list of CBC’s Canada Reads - the Essential Top 10 Canadian Novels of the Decade. Now CBC have announced that the book has made the final Top 10 list!
The list was voted for by CBC readers and Viewers, from a list of 40 novels, which were picked from more than 6,000 suggestions submitted through CBC’s recommendation form, e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.
Five of the Top 10 titles will now be selected by CBC’s five celebrity panelists to defend during the Canada Reads debates in February. The books and panelists will be revealed on Wednesday, November 24! Find out more here.
Here’s the full list:

The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill
Bottle Rocket Hearts by Zoe Whittall
