Edited by Troy Wilson and hosted by ACT-I-VATE (http://act-i-vate.com/), a new ongoing anthology called Panels for Primates will feature new primate stories or strips by different creators or creative teams every Wednesday, all to benefit the Primate Rescue Center in Nicholasville, KY. Readers will be able to view the ever-growing archive of primate stories absolutely free, but will be encouraged to swing over to http://www.primaterescue.org and donate what they can. They should specify that their donations are Panels for Primate donations.

Writer Stuart Moore and artist Rick Geary have kicked off Panels for Primates with “Ilya’s Back Pages” — http://www.act-i-vate.com/114.comic — a fun story about what really happens when you shoot monkeys into space. Panels for Primates will offer an eclectic mix of creators and content, with the only common denominators being high quality and primates. The stories/strips will range in length from one page to ten pages. Panels for Primates will run until at least April; no definite end date has been set.

The mission of the Primate Rescue Center is to alleviate the suffering of primates wherever it occurs by:
-providing sanctuary or referral to appropriate facilities.
-working to end the trade of primates both in the United States and abroad.
-educating the public to the plight of primates caught in the breeder/dealer cycle.
-assisting researchers and zoo personnel in finding appropriate placement for surplus primates.
-encouraging compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and animal welfare statutes.
They currently provide lifetime care for 11 chimpanzees and over 40 monkeys.

Readers can donate to the Primate Rescue Center via credit card, PayPal, or check. They can use a credit card via the PayPal button without having a PayPal account.

Here are a few big ticket items the Primate Rescue Center needs:
1) A golf/utility cart to replace the ancient relic they currently use to deliver meals to their animals ($5500, used).
2) A new Apple desktop to replace old non-Intel iMac for medical records and keeper logs ($1800, including software updates).
3) A generator to provide back-up power for the chimp house ($8500).
