OMFG! Bluewater Releases a Justin Bieber Biog Comic! The End of Comics is Nigh!
Why god, why?!
Seriously, each to his own, but really? a Justin Bieber comic? Have we really sunk that low? The kid is only 16, and he was only discovered two years ago! What is there to say about him, except for the fact that he is an annoying little gimp!
Please Bluewater, stop this madness before it’s too late! Who won’t you do a biog comic of? It’s getting a little ridiculous now…stop being such rampant popularity whores, and just release real comics, with characters, and a story, and a plot. Tek War will do, at a stretch, but just stop this biography crap, please!
From the press release:
Like The Beatles, Justin Bieber started life in simple public housing, and also like The Beatles, he is forced to balance fame with his humble beginnings as he comes of age with the whole world screaming his name. Fame: Justin Bieber traces the career of this YouTube sensation from his musical childhood in Ontario to the stage of his first headlining tour.
Bieber becomes a comic book hero when Bluewater Productions taps his life story for its popular Fame series of biographical comics. Fame: Justin Bieber comic book and will hit comic book shops and online retailers on Wednesday. This 32-page issue will retail for $3.99.
Writer Tara Broeckel Ooten said that while researching the comic she became convinced that Bieber has what it takes to craft a long musical career. The comic book was drawn by Claudio Avella.
Bieber is far from the first celebrity to appear in Bluewater’s Fame series. Later this month he is joined by Twilight star Taylor Lautner & soccer star David Beckham.
Darren G. Davis, president of Bluewater Productions, says, “The “Fame” series and the other related biography titles have proven to be big sellers. In many cases, it has brought new business to comic book stores that may have never otherwise gone to them. We know this because many of our biography titles sell out within the first week of hitting the stands. This is true even when we consider an aggressive print run. Many times we gladly do second and third printings of a title to meet demand.”
Davis continued, “We are also do a huge marketing plan that includes the comic shop locator. We have ads running in Teen Beat, Teen Vogue, 20 under 20, Nascar and more. These ads are designed to drive business to comic book stores. We also promote comic stores in the national press too. In Time Magazine last week to Access Hollywood today.”
In addition to the various biography series, we have several fiction titles on the horizon that we believe will interest customers. With our varied and divergent titles, it is our hope to continue to drive new business to comic book stores. Also in stores this week is “Logan’s Run” #4, “Tony & Cleo” #3, “William Shater Presents: Quest For Tomorrow #1″ , “William Shater Presents: TekWar #8,” ” Imagination Manifesto” & “Vincent Price Presents #21.”
