J. Michael Straczynski Signs at Earth-2 on Oct. 27
Earth-2 Comics will be hosting a book release party for SUPERMAN EARTH ONE, with special guest J. Michael Straczynski, writer of the original graphic novel that redefines a new 21st Century Last Son of Krypton.
Usually when Earth-One and Earth-2 meet up, there is some sort of Crisis; this time there will be a celebration of the latest incarnation of the Man of Steel. The event will be held Wednesday, October 27, the day the book is released, from 6-8pm at Earth-2 Comics, 15017 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91403. Straczynski will be signing books and greeting fans. Refreshments will be served.
SUPERMAN EARTH ONE, illustrated by Shane Davis, is the first original graphic novel retelling Superman’s origin, and the first in series of “Earth One” ogns DC is planning to publish.
J. Michael Straczynski is the creator of the Hugo-award-winning TV series Babylon 5 and the Eisner-winning comic book writer who revitalized the Amazing Spider-Man and the Mighty Thor for Marvel Comics. He wrote the screenplay for Changeling, directed by Clint Eastwood, and is also the author of such critically acclaimed graphic novels as Midnight Nation, Supreme Power and Rising Stars. For DC Comics, he is now crafting legendary new stories for Superman and Wonder Woman, and brings a unique perspective to the entire DC Universe in Brave and the Bold.
Earth-2 Comics, established by entertainment industry veterans Carr D’Angelo and Jud Meyers in 2003, was the 2007 winner of the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award, presented under the auspices of Comic-Con International: San Diego, for outstanding support of the comics art medium both in the community and within the industry at large. In 2009, Earth-2 Comics opened a second location in Northridge in partnership with comic book writer and DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.
