SLG Publishing to Sponsor Zombie Food Drive

Zombie-O-Rama To Collect Canned Goods for Second Harvest Food Bank

San Jose, CA - 8/17/2010 - SLG Publishing, in a partnership with the San Jose Downtown Association and Starlight Cinemas,  will be organizing a zombie crawl on August 25th which will double as a canned food drive for The Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara. Now in its second year, Zombie-O-Rama as it is called takes its name from a comic book published by SLG Publishing.

“Last year’s event was a huge success” said SLG president Dan Vado “Our expectation was that we could get maybe 50-100 people to come out, the SJDA estimated attendance as closer to 1000 and for a good part of the evening the entire San Jose Downtown area looked like a scene from Night of the Living Dead.” Vado added that the canned food drive was also a huge success as over 6,000 pounds of canned goods were donated “It really is a case of the dead helping the living and proves the point that the secret to surviving an apocalypse, be it Zombies or economic as we seem to be in, is to stick together and help each other out.”

The highlights of this years crawl will be a zombie fashion show put on by the Creative Zombie Collective and then an outdoor showing of last year’s hit comedy Zombieland. Admission to the event is free although everyone attending is being asked to bring at least one canned food item. The SLG Publishing Gallery will be open at noon on August 25th and make-up artists will be on hand to zombiefy the make-up challenged for a fee depending on complexity.

The rally point for the crawl will be Gore Park at the corners of South First Street and Williams in downtown San Jose with the crawl set to begin at 5:00 PM. More information including the route map can be found at the event website at www.zombieorama.com
