Chris Evans Rumoured to Accept the Role of Captain America
The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Chris Evan will play Steve Rogers in the upcoming movie, The First Avenger: Captain America.
According to their sources, Evans has accepted the studios offer of the role, and the contract is now being drawn up. However, Marvel would not comment on the rumour, and neither would CAA, who represent the actor.
Evans was offered the role in the movie last week, but there was some question of whether he would accept.
This will be the second Marvel Studios property that Evans has been involved with, as he has previously played the role of Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four 1 & 2. If he accepts this role, I would imagine that would be the end of him playing Storm. I would not be surprised if Marvel didn’t reboot the FF series, as it’s been pretty abysmal.
Paramount Pictures is set to distribute The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22, 2011. The film is being directed by Joe Johnston, produced by Kevin Feige, with a screenplay is being written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely.
