Chris Pine Rumoured to Be in Talks for Captain America Movie
We recently reported that Director Joe Johnston had revealed that he hadn’t yet picked the actor to play Captain America, but that there were five or six people in the running for the role, between the age of 23 and 32.
Now, Cinemaspy are reporting that they have received a tip that Chris Pine (Star Trek)Â is the front runner for the lead role. This tip did not come from one of their usual sources, and as such is uncorroborated. Here is what their tipster said:
“Anyway, just thought you guys might like to know that Paramount and Marvel are pretty close to closing a deal on casting Steve Rogers/Captain America and fans might be excited to learn that the short list includes somebody a lot of fans speculated about, Chris Pine. From what I’m hearing, he’s the frontrunner right now, though that could change. Can’t tell you who the other couple of choices are, cause that’ll work against me for reasons I don’t want to get into.”
Paramount Pictures is set to distribute The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22, 2011. The film is being directed by Joe Johnston, produced by Kevin Feige, with a screenplay is being written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. No cast members have yet been announced.
