Blake Lively Cast as Carol Ferris in the Green Lantern Movie
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Blake Lively has been cast as the female lead, Carol Ferris, in the upcoming Green Lantern movie.
Lively is only the second actor cast in the movie, and will star alongside Ryan Reynolds, who will be playing the male lead, Hal Jordan.
The role to be played by Lively is that of Carol Ferris, the only child of aerospace mogul Carl Ferris, who hires test pilot Hal Jordan and quickly finds herself attracted to the fearless daredevil, who is secretly the superhero Green Lantern. However, in the comics, the young couple’s romance quickly becomes complicated when Carol takes over the company from her father and the Zamarons crown her the new Star Sapphire.
Apparently, Lively was picked for the role over such actors as Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner.
According the THR, the next roles set to be cast are those of the movies two main villains, Hector Hammond and Sinestro.
Green Lantern is being directed by Martin Campbell, with Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti producing. The script was written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Green, but is currently being revised by Michael Goldenberg. The movie is set for a june 17, 2021 release date
