Trawling the Internets - Issue #1

0

If it’s to little for a full post, and too big for a Tweet, it’ll end up in the Odds & Ends file.

Quotes of the week:

Jason Aaron: If you’re a comic creator who complains about having to do cons, then you’ve forgotten how much it sucks to work a real job.

Ben Templesmith: Doctors transplant TWO arms onto an armless 54 yr old man. All I can wonder, is if successful, will he be able to have a wank finally?

Ben Templesmith Previews

Ben’s been pimping out a bunch of tasty images for his new series Welcome to Hoxford. This series looks absolutely wicked:

Welcome to Hoxford #1 Preview

Preview of Welcome to Hoxford #2 art

Welcome to Hoxford #3 Cover A B

Check out this great GI Joe #0 cover

Ben’s also signing a stack of drop ins to go with the Art of Wormwood. I plan to book mine this weekend. I suggest you do too.

Rick Remender posted this lovely Tony Moore cover to Fear Agent #27. He also posted art for Canete’s cover to The End League #8, along with his rough pencils for Pages 1, 2, and 3.

Rick also put up the cover to Legion of the Supernatural #3

Friend of the blog Dwight L. MacPherson has put up a 5 page preview from the second issue of his upcoming title M theory

Links

The Government of Canada does these really cheesy adverts for Heritage Canada. They feature soft-focus Hallmark channel style versions of events like the discovery of Canada, the inspiration of Winnie the Pooh. I saw this one for Joe Shuster creating Superman, the other day. Oh Yeah! Canada is where it is at!

Great Little Podcast/Audio interview with Neil Gaiman here

I stole this link from a list of links Neil Gaiman had on his site the other day. Alan Moore tells you everything you need to know about the craft of comics writing. One of the best Alan Moore interviews I have read.

If you have been after the Bone-verse stories Rose and Stupid, Stupid Rat-tails, you are in luck, as they just got reprinted, and are available exclusively through the Bone store

Ed Brubaker is Interviewed on chuckpalahniuk.net

Factoid

Marvel is holding their annual X-Men retreat at the moment. Cooking up events for the X-Titles for the next year. Known attendees are Ed Brubaker, C.B. Cebulski, Brian Michael Bendis, and Mike Carey. This explains why Mike hasn’t made a move in our Scrabulous game in the past week Though now they are scrapping Scrabulous, we’ll have to start playing it’s replacement: Wordscraper

Randomness

I imagine you have heard about the beheading on the Canadian Greyhound bus by now. Well, I posted the story on the London Zoo section of Warren Ellis’ Whitechapel forums, and Jacen Burrows replied to say that this really freaked him out after having just drawing this image:

That image comes from Crossed, the new book from him and Garth Ennis. I believe the #0 issue is scheduled to ship next week. Be sure to check it out.
