SDCC 2008 - My Coverage
You might not have heard about this, but every year around this time, a couple of comic creators and fans get together for a small event down in San Diego called… Comic-Con International!
Yep folks, it’s that time of year again! The biggest comic convention in the world, and Hypergeek…. will not be there
I had planned to attend the convention this year. But, as some of you might know, I recently became a Permanent Resident/Landed Immigrant of Canada. After I had my final interview last month I got all my paperwork stamped, but I was told that I was not allowed to leave Canada until my Permanent Resident card turned up. If I did leave, I would not be permitted re-entry, and would lose my Residency. I was told that this could take between one to six months. So, I didn’t get tickets for CCI because I would most likely not be able to get there. I decided that if it arrived by last Friday, that gave me time to get tickets, book a hotel, get a day off work, and fly down. Low and behold, it didn’t turn up! So I did none of those things. But guess what? It turned up yesterday afternoon! The day before the madness really kicks off. That’s Sod’s Law for you!
I would have loved to get down there and updated the blog from the convention floor, but I guess that will have to wait till next year. However, I will keep an eye on various comic news sites, and point people to some of the more interesting pieces; most likely chiming in with my own opinions on happenings. I also planned to relay interesting information here from several creators I know who are twitter addicted, and will probably send updates from their mobile devices. That is on hold at the moment. Twitter seems to have gone crazy, and deleted everyone I was following, and everyone following me. Nice one!
