Warren Ellis is currently running a feature on his site called world Wide Week 2008, where he asks everyone who uses his Whitechapel forums for submit a picture of them selves. The reason for this he says is:

“because people forget that there are other people on the other end of the internet. People forget that they’re side by side with other people every time they visit a website, that they’re talking with real people every time they post a comment. It’s too easy for people to let everyone become anonymous on the net. I don’t like that. This whole thing is made out of people. Once a year, I like to remind you. Also, this site has always attracted interesting-looking people”

I submitted a picture of myself with a thick beard (I no longer have it). My eyes are wide in the picture because my camera flash is a professional one, and is rather bright at close range. My wife calls it my scary serial killer picture. You can see it here
